Fury 325 Media Day is Today

In honor of today’s media day for Fury 325, let’s take a ride!

ACE Adopts I-71 northbound by Kings Island

You’ve seen the signs along the highway, “Adopted by ……”, well, we’ll have our name up on a big green sign soon.  As people are coming up I-71 from Cincinnati, ready to turn in to Kings Island, they’ll see our name and maybe think of us as they have their fun.  This does require just a little work though.   Four times a year we need to pick up trash along the highway there.  If everyone does it one time a year, that would be great.  Why do the minimum?  Maybe we’ll do it more.  I need some civic minded people to show up on August 15th at the public pickup loop by the main Kings Island sign at 1:00 for safety training.  If you can come to that, please let me know.  I don’t think we’ll be picking up trash that day, maybe we will.  I’d like to have a highway cleaning event on Saturday, August 28th at 11:00am.  Please let me know if you can help us then.  Thank you in advance for helping ACE get some publicity and for making the highway outside Kings Island attractive and litter free.

Kings Island: The Gary Wachs Years

Enquirer article:

CET’s Nate Byrum takes viewers on a nostalgic trip through Kings Island history with a new nine-part documentary available now on the station’s Web site,

“Riding History to the Limits,” believed to be the first film about the park’s history, takes you back to Hanna-Barbera Land, the Enchanted Voyage, Antique Cars, Sky Ride, Animal Safari monorail and the visit by TV’s “Brady Bunch” in 1973.

WCET Website:

As early as 1964, the design and concept of a groundbreaking amusement park was growing in the mind of an ambitious young man by the name of Gary Wachs. Until this time, modern amusement parks were leaving roller coasters and other thrill rides out of the mix. Mr. Wachs knew that bringing back the thrill to amusement parks was a path that would be as profitable as it was popular in the future of entertainment. After a five-year struggle, Gary’s dream became reality when Kings Island opened to the public in 1972.

The story of Kings Island combines archival film footage, photographs taken by Rick Norton and also by park patrons, and there’s also video shot recently in the park. Interviews include: Gary Wachs, Dennis Speigel, Charles Mechem, Jack Rouse, Don Helbig, Carmen Electra, Walter and Nancy Duff, Barry Williams, and Michael Lookinland. Hosted by Nate Byrum.

The Amusement Industry is all aTwitter

Twitter?  What is this Twitter I keep hearing about?

Twitter itself describes itself thus:

Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

Wikipedia goes a little more in depth:

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users’ updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as followers). Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow anybody to access them. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. The service is free to use over the Internet, but using SMS may incur phone service provider fees.

If you are already Twitter, continue reading, if not you may want to check out the Twitter site first.

Although Twitter has been around a couple years, 2009 has brought  a huge explosion in use.  Below is a list of Twitter users involved in the amusement industry.  It is hard to keep up with all of the new accounts, so this list is as complete as it can be when this article was published.  If you know of any Twitter accounts not listed below that should be, please let me know.
